Marmara University Department of Radiation Oncology was established in 1996 and started the treatments at Marmara University Hospital in Altunizade (1997). Approximately 10300 patients were treated in the clinic. There were one linear acclerator (Saturne 42, GE), Simulix (simulator), treatment planning system Target (1997-2004) and Eclipse (2005-2010).
In September 2010, a joint protocol was signed between Istanbul Governorship and Marmara University, therefore all departments moved to Marmara University Pendik Education and Research Hospital, Pendik. Treatments were started in 2013 following the new Radiation Oncology Unit construction. Currently, there are one linear accelerators (Synergy- Elekta), a CT-Simulators (Toshiba) and a brachytherapy (Nucletron) unit with treatment planning systems (Monaco, Elekta) in clinic. Five faculties, one specialist, nine residents; two physicists, two nurses and ten RTTs are working in the clinic.
